WINDHOEK, 05 AUG (NAMPA) – Motorsport supporters are gearing up for the Ford & Friends weekend, which starts at the Tony Rust Race Track outside Windhoek on Friday.
The event will see the cream of the crop in the local motorsport take on their peers from South Africa. No less than 50 drivers will showcase their skills on the race track in events such as oval racing, drag racing, go kart racing and drifting.
Chris Liebenberg from the Windhoek Motor Club (WMC) told Nampa on Tuesday the event is the second of its kind in Namibia this year.
“We’ve got the big stuff (V8s) coming from South Africa and expect about 10 of the vehicles and their drivers to entertain the spectators,” he said.
Spectators can look forward to local names such as Richard Slamet, Mark Sternhagel, Micheal Rust and Melvin Gous, who will be taking on South African drivers such as Craig Czank, Bernardes Havenga and Coert Pieterse on the tracks.
To ensure maximum adrenaline and races, the event will start on Friday at 17h00 and continue on Saturday, starting at 08h00.
