Father arrested for raping daughter

WINDHOEK, 03 AUG (NAMPA) - A 47-year-old man was arrested at the Oshalemba village in the Ohangewena Region over the weekend for allegedly having had sexual intercourse with his 12-year-old daughter on different occasions.
Sergeant Slogan Matheus of the Namibian Police Force Public Relations Division said during a media briefing in the capital on Sunday the incident happened between June and July this year at their home.
The suspect will appear in the Oshakati Magistrate's Court on Monday next week.
In a separate incident, a 14-year-old girl was raped while asleep at the Forestry Camp House at Okahandja on Saturday at about 04h00.
It is alleged that the suspect entered the room while the victim was asleep on the floor, raped her and ran away when the victim woke up.
The victim's parents were asleep in the same room.
The suspect is not yet arrested, and police investigations in the matter continue.
In a different incident, a 68-year-old woman was raped when she went to collect wood in the veld at the Ovinyange village in the Opuwo area over the weekend.
It is alleged that the naked suspect approached her from behind, threatened to stab her, forced her to the ground and raped her. His face was covered with a cloth.
The suspect has not yet been arrested.
In a case of culpable homicide, Martin Johnson Awene, 33, died in a motor vehicle accident on Friday at about 22h00 after the Toyota pick-up he was using to tow another Toyota pick-up collided head-on with a Fysal Fresh Produce Cool Truck with a trailer on the Okahandja/Windhoek main road.
The drivers of the towed pick-up and the truck both escaped without any injuries, but were treated for shock.
The next of kin have been informed, and police investigations into the matter continues.
