Windhoek, Namibia: The nbc has switched on the digital transmitter in two of the largest towns in the south on 26 July 2014. “Once the 67% coverage is achieved by December, Namibia will be six months ahead of the global deadline to switch over to DTT. The switch on in Mariental and Keetmanshoop (now 61%) brings the nbc closer to this goal,” says nbc Director-General, Mr. Albertus Aochamub.

The two towns in the south now have access to digital television, as will the rest of the country in due time. The nbc digital television decoders will be available from the nbc Keetmanshoop offices as well as from TV Worx installers situated in the south.
Continuing with its policy of transparency the corporation is sharing once again its 2013/2014 Financial results in the north on 28 July 2014. The event coincides with nbc’s annual 2014 Stakeholder Engagement evening taking place in Ongwediva in conjunction with the northern Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI).

The Director General says that “The nbc is in the process of negotiating with other potential distributors as well who can further provide similar services to the broadcaster and its viewing public. We are also encouraging all other distributors, especially the well-established SMEs, to join this DIGITAL JOURNEY”

The nbc is looking forward to reaching new digital heights.
