CRAN hosts ITU Deputy Secretary General


The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, has the privilege and honour to host Mr. Houlin Zhao, the International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) Deputy-Secretary General and Mrs. Anne-Rita Ssemboga, Programme Officer of ITU- Southern Africa, who will be visiting Namibia from the 30th of July 2014 until the 1st of August 2014.


“Namibia is privileged to host Mr. Zhao as one of the first high-ranking officials of the ITU to visit Namibia. Mr Zhao is poised to take over from the current Secretary General Dr. Hamadoun I. Toure in October 2014. This is thus a historic occasion”, said Ms. Hilma Hitula, Acting Chief Executive Officer of CRAN.


Mr. Zhao’s visit is not only an opportunity to showcase Namibia’s advancement in ICT, but it will also provide the opportunity to forge a relationship with the Deputy Secretary-General and to garner support for other activities that Namibia intends to pursue in the ICT industry nationally and Regionally.
