OPUWO, 26 JUL (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police at Khorixas are investigating a possible murder after a 64-year-old man allegedly went missing early in May this year.
A police report availed to Nampa this week indicated that Joseph John Anaseb is believed to have been kidnapped.
The two suspects in the matter are Ursula Harases, 58; and her 31-year-old son Dion Doeseb.
They were arrested and charged with murder, kidnapping and obstructing the course of justice earlier this month.
The duo appeared in the Khorixas Magistrate’s Court on Monday, and their case was postponed to 08 September this year for further police investigation.
They were remanded in police custody with no option to post bail.
According to the police report, Harases’ other son Heinrich Doeseb allegedly picked Anaseb up from the Donkerhoek residential area in Khorixas on 04 May this year.
He took Anaseb to their farm, Farm Welbedail, apparently to fix electrical wiring at their house.
The police have indicated that Heinrich Doeseb was not charged in the matter.
According to the police statement, Harases allegedly offered Anaseb alcohol later that same day.
She then apparently told a cattle herder in her employ, Frans Geidumo that she was going to “take” Anaseb and he (Geidumo) should not tell anybody about it.
She apparently tried to buy his silence with three heads of cattle.
The police report further stated that she told Geidumo that if the police start asking questions about the pensioner’s whereabouts, he should tell them he last saw him hitchhiking at the main road in the early morning hours of 05 May.
Anaseb has still not been found and nothing is known about his whereabouts.
