KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- A total 689 people were rounded-up for various drug related offences in a 48-hour operation, code-named "Ops Tapis Khas", conducted by the Kuala Lumpur Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department in the city since Friday.
The department's deputy head, Supt Adnan Azizon, said those detained, including 58 women, were locals between 18 and 51 years-old and 458 of them tested positive for drugs.
"In the operation, we also seized various types of drugs, comprising heroin (86.48gm), cannabis (0.8gm), eramin 5 (0.2gm) and syabu (47.25gm)," he told reporters here today.
He said the operation covered areas like Chow Kit, considered a hotspot area, where 130 people were detained and they all tested positive for drug.
