KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Reserve business/finance newspaper has appointed Habhajan Singh as its group editor effective July 1.
Habhajan Singh, 46, takes over from A Halim A Wahab, who has been appointed advisor of the daily, its chief executive officer Syed Mohamed Fazilla Syed Hussain said in a statement today.
He also said that S. Sivanantham had been appointed the chief operating officer (COO), also effective July 1. Halim had also been the COO.
Habhajan Singh, who was the newspaperâ€™s executive editor, began his career in journalism with Berita Harian and was part of the start-up team for Harian Metro.
He later joined the Business Times newspaper and the Malaysian Business magazine.

Habhajan Singh read International Journalism M.A. at City University, London, and was a Press Fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge.
He also did a post-graduate programme in Islamic finance and banking at the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), an institute of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
"He will be responsible for overall editorial strategy as well as identifying expansion and marketing opportunities," Syed Mohamed Fazilla said.
The Malaysian Reserve, which hit the streets on May 28, 2007, is published by Syed Hussain Publications Sdn Bhd, which has a strategic marketing tie-up with the Redberry Group, which also owns The Malay Mail.
