Man allegedly hangs himself after homosexual claims

OTJIWARONGO, 18 JUL (NAMPA) – A man allegedly hanged himself with a piece of wire at his family’s home at Okondjatu on Thursday after being labelled a homosexual.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations’ Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Friday that the deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Karupa Tjihimise.
Okondjatu is situated some 220 kilometres south-east of Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region’s Okakarara Constituency.
His next of kin have been informed.
“He left a suicide note behind, where he stated that he was tired of the bad talk towards him by some community members in Okondjatu, who said he was a homosexual,” explained Mbeha.
An inquest docket into the matter has been opened at the Okondjatu police station.
