MELAKA, July 8 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government will its relevant departments, agencies and local authorities to carry out an in-depth study on traffic flow statewide and not just around the Jonker Walk area.

Chief Minister Datuk Ir Idris Haron the study would be done in three districts - Jasin, Central Melaka and Alor Gajah - in a bid to find suitable solutions to the problems of traffic congestion, especially during weekends.

"Roads in Melaka are hydraulically connected. If we solve the issues of traffic flows in Ayer Keroh, the traffic flows near the MITC (Melaka International Trade Centre) will have issues because the roads are connected."

He said this to reporters after attending the monthly assembly of state civil servants here today.

This was the first staff assembly for Idris after being appointed as Melaka Chief Minister on May 7.
