STEP (SCORE Technopreneur Enhancement Programme) KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- myNEF announces STEP (SCORE Technopreneurs Enhancement Programme) to grow and assist Bumiputera technopreneurs to increase their participation in the nation’s economy sector and contribute to the creation of high-income nation by 2020. STEP is one of the programme under PUsh (Pemangkin Usahawan) initiative. To strengthen the programme structure, myNEF had engaged an agreement with Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) to design and conduct technopreneur business coaching and mentoring modules as well as the SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (SCORE) diagnostic auditing for Bumiputera ICT technopreneurs. myNEF’s CEO, Ferdaus Johar said that, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a STEP, thus, STEP provides exposure to entrepreneurs on business strategies and managements methods”. He added, “myNEF has a database of more than 1,000 Bumiputera Technopreneurs. We are now finalizing the information of these companies and then followed by SCORE auditing. Companies under 3 star rating will undergo a coaching program conducted by TPM for three months with necessary business skills, competency and be able to increase star rating under SCORE. Later, the companies will be audited after this coaching program to determine the current level of company.” Under the Agreement, TPM will conduct the structured three-month coaching programme with a maximum of 30 participants. The participants will be trained and coached by trainers with hands-on experience in business enterprise. Emphasis shall be given on sharing of experiences with successful entrepreneurs. Objectives of the coaching programme are to provide essential guidance to participants to become passionate ICT entrepreneurs; guiding the entrepreneurs make a breakthrough to the “real world of business”; making them self- sustaining in business and become at least a three-star rated company through SCORE diagnosis audit, and ensuring that with a three-star rating, the entrepreneurs shall be ready to export their product offerings and broaden their market reach. After three months of the coaching session, the technopreneurs should have the ability to transform their businesses and ready be evaluated under the SME Corporation’s SCORE rating. The companies should have the ability to run the business based on product innovation and have IP strategy in mind. “With this exercise, myNEF will have better understanding about the industry landscape of Bumiputera ICT and Creative companies. myNEF’s strategic planning is to evaluate and re-evaluate each programme it offers to make sure that the benefits of each program offered help the needs of the technopreneurs population. Furthermore, along the way, myNEF will make adjustments as our programmes unfolds and as indicated by evaluation findings.
