WINDHOEK, 14 JUL (NAMPA) - The price of maize products has decreased by six per cent as from Monday this week, bringing relief to many.
Namib Mills’ Managing Director Ian Collard made the announcement on Monday.
This means, a 10 kilogramme bag of TOP SCORE maize meal, which cost about N.dollars 100, will now cost approximately N.dollars 94.
Collard attributed the decrease to the good rain the country has received this year, making raw materials from wheat producers cheaper This stabilised the market, because the supply is now sufficient.
“This has decreased the raw materials' cost of Namib Mills, and brands such as TOP SCORE will be more affordable, thus bringing much needed relief to our customers,” he said.
The price for maize has increased drastically over the past years.
These increases on prices of maize products was in lieu of the drought experienced across the African continent.
On 20 January this year, the price for maize increased by 10 per cent.
Namib Mills maize products are Top Score maize meal, ACE Special Meal, CLASSIC SIFTED, NAMIB Sun Sifted, TEN Sifted Maize Meal, and NO 1 Unsifted Maize Meal.
