Young girl allegedly raped by 18-year-old man at Sesfontein

OPUWO, 07 JUL (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police are investigating a case of rape after an 18-year-old man allegedly raped a girl aged 13 at the Sesfontein settlement in the Kunene Region on Saturday.
According to a police report availed to Nampa on Monday, the suspect allegedly started chasing the girl at a bar where she had gone to look for her sister between 18h00 and 19h00.
He allegedly grabbed the girl’s arm when he caught up with her and forced her to the ground between the classrooms at a nearby school and raped her.
The man has been arrested and he is expected to appear in the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the police are also investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving at Kamanjab after a government vehicle overturned in the area.
It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle with registration number GRN 3851 lost control of the vehicle on a sharp curve about 24 kilometres from Kamanjab, causing the vehicle to overturn.
He had been coming from the direction of Erwee.
The driver and a passenger both sustained minor injuries. The vehicle belongs to the Ministry of Education.
