The Namibian Senior Ladies team played Italy on Saturday 5 July and won by a score of 4-3 (in overtime). Namibia came out determined to brush off the previous days loss and took the game right to Italy. Namibia scored first with a goal from Danielle Schmidt. Shortly after Italy evened the score. Just before halftime Nadia Schmidt scored off a pass from Suzelle Pronk. Italy answered back in the beginning of the second half tying the game 2-2. After a series of scoring attempts Daniella Thiem scored her first World goal and gave Namibia the lead. Italy would not back down and evened the game at 3-3. The game went to overtime with the "golden goal" rule in effect. Half way through extra time Danielle Schmidt battled along the boards and won a puck from a defender and snuck around the goalie and tucked the puck in the net to give Namibia the win!
