Ulenga re-elected CoD president

ONGWEDIVA, 06 JUL (NAMPA) - Congress of Democrats (CoD) president, Ben Ulenga was re-elected in that position during the party’s elective congress held at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region on Saturday and Sunday.
The same congress elected former CoD councillor on the Oshakati Town Council, Elago Amuthenu as the party’s new vice-president.
Ulenga received 61 votes, Amuthenu 36 votes and former secretary-general Tsudao Gurirab 12 votes in their contest for the presidential seat.
Ulenga is the only one who retained his position in the top leadership structure of the CoD.
Amuthenu defeated Jacky de Wee with 62 votes to 30 votes to win the vice-president position.
However, De Wee has been elected the party’s national chairperson.
Amuthenu informed Nampa on Sunday afternoon that the party’s former vice-president, Alfred Chilinda could not attend the congress for yet unknown reasons.
Clementine Masambo is the new secretary-general of the party, taking over from Gurirab. Masambo will be deputised by Herds Muunda.
A businessman in the Ohangwena Region, Boas Mwapopi was elected the CoD treasurer-general, and he will be deputised by Chaze Muhongo.
