WINDHOEK, 06 JUL (NAMPA) - Mystery surrounds the whereabouts of the head of a man discovered dead on Saturday in the bushes of Farm Kalkpan, about 45 kilometres from Rehoboth.
A deceased has been identified as 60-year old man, Abraham Jacobus Beukes, who went missing from that farm on Monday last week.
Namibian Police Force Inspector Stephanus Nuuyi told a media briefing here on Sunday the deceased’s family members discovered Beukes dead with his head partially decapitated.
“When the Police officers arrived at the scene, they noticed that the head of the deceased was cut, but not completely cut off from the body. The police officers went to the nearest police station in Rehoboth to look for an ambulance to take the body to the mortuary and left the body with the family members at the scene, covered with a blanket,” he said.
But when the police officers returned to the scene, the man’s head was missing.
“The family members who were left guarding the body, indicated that they left the corpse to go drink water, and have no idea who cut off the head. Police officers at the scene indicated that there were no footprints of wild animals at the scene,” said Nuuyi.
The police have since opened a case of murder, violation of a dead body and defeating the cause of justice.
