KUALA TERENGGANU, July 7 (Bernama) -- Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin today said that the state government had set aside a huge allocation for education to produce a well-educated generation for the state.
"As such, I hope Terengganu-born people who have succeeded in their studies and have gained expertise in their fields to return to Terengganu to serve our beloved state," he said in conjunction with his 51st birthday celebration at the all-new Istana Syarqiyyah here today.
Also present were Sultanah of Terengganu Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Yang Dipertuan Muda of Terengganu Tengku Muhammad Ismail, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said and Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.
Nevertheless, the Sultan said a well-educated generation should also have strong religious faith and good moral values to face to face future challenges.
"I hereby call on the state government to increase the management allocation for Terengganu Islamic Affairs and Malay Customs Council (Maidam) so that efforts to strengthen Muslim faith, inculcate good moral values, as well as to further improve religious education and family development could be expanded," he said.
He said the state government should also strive to boost economic activities, as well as institutional and industrial development, so that more job opportunities could be created for those who would soon graduate from university or return to serve the state.
