MUHD ASHRAF LIFTS SECOND GOLD IN TABLE TENNIS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Kedah's Muhd Ashraf Haiqal Rizal lifted his second goal medal in men's singles table tennis competition at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2013 ay Gymnasium 2, the National Sports Council, Bukit Jalil today.

Sarawak's Chai Kiang Ann had to settle for the silver when he was beaten 4-0 by Muhd Ashraf.

The bronze was shared by Sabah's Chan Chee Yang and Selangor's Foo Dunley.

Muhd Ashraf, 19, bagged his first gold in men's doubles on Friday.

"I didn't expect to win another gold today. Sukma 2013 has brought good luck for me because previously I had never contributed any gold to Kedah since my first appearance in Sukma 2006 in Kedah," he told reporters today.

Muhd Ashraf, who is also a national athlete, hoped to create a name at the Myanmar SEA Games in December.

Meanwhile, Johor's Ho Ying clinched the gold in the women's singles category after beating Selangor's Lee Rou You 4-1 in the final.

The bronze was shared Federal Territories' Joybe Ting Ping and Selangor's Chua Wan Zhen.
