ONGHALA, 01 JUL (NAMPA) – A young businessman from the Omafo settlement at the northern border town of Helao Nafidi last week donated football kits to Onghala Combined School (CS).
Onghala is situated a few kilometres from the Namibia-Angola border.
The T-shirts and shorts were donated by Sakaria Haimbili of Chula-Chula Investment.
A teacher at Onghala CS, Herman Kalimbo Paulus, told Nampa during the handing over of the donation their school is located in a flood-prone area and is seriously affected during the rainy seasons.
“We are surrounded by a big oshana that stretches from neighbouring Angola down to oshana shaKatana at Oshakati,” Paulus explained.
He said Haimbili is the first business person to reach out to Onghala CS with such a donation.
The school’s sports teacher, Pelinawa Martha Endjala received the kits from Haimbili and told those who attended the handing over ceremony that the donation will serve as a motivation for the learners.
Haimbili has also promised to provide football balls to the school. Two of his friends, Joseph Haufiku of the Boa Vida business outlets also at Helao Nafidi and Gottlieb Shapange, also donated N.dollars 500 each to the school.
The name of Onghala CS that is written on one of the buildings is worn out and, as such, Haufiku has pledged to ensure its replacement in the near future.
Onghala CS has about 500 learners from pre-primary to Grade 9.
