OSHAKATI, 29 JUN (NAMPA) – The 2014 Oshakati Totem Exposition (Expo) will commence its activities on Tuesday, and President Hifikepunye Pohamba has been invited to officiate at the event on Friday.
The expo will be hosted at the Oshakati Independence Stadium in Oshakati west this year, unlike previous years when it was conducted at an open space behind the Yetu Shopping Centre in Oshakati east.
“We have a total of 70 kapana exhibitors this time around, compared to 40 kapana business stands last year,” said the Oshakati Town Council’s corporate communications officer, Jackson Muma.
He told Nampa here on Saturday that 40 corporate companies and small and medium business entities also form part of the Totem Expo this year.
Ten 10 seasonal “omaongo” (marula juice) and “eembe” (wild berries) salespersons will also participate, while 15 groups showcasing their respective totems remain the main exhibitors of the event.
The best exhibitors will be awarded on Friday.
A fundraising event which was held at the Oshakati Independence Stadium at the end of May this year collected over N.dollars 1.1 million for the successful hosting of this year’s Totem Expo.
A joint venture of two prominent local business tycoons, Erastus Shapumba of Chicco Building Suppliers, and David Sheehama David of Kambwa Trading cc, is the main sponsor of the 2014 Oshakati Totem Expo.
The expo will conclude its activities on Saturday.
