WINDHOEK, 26 JUN (NAMPA) – The late Quinton-Steele Botes will be laid to rest on Tuesday next week.
Botes’s son, Ibarto Botes, announced this on Thursday, saying the burial ceremony is for close family and friends only.
He told Nampa on Thursday the church service will start at 10h00 at the Emmanuel Church (AGS) in Pioneerspark.
Ibarto requested the public to respect his father’s wishes of a small funeral, and further asked those who intend to buy flowers, to rather donate the money to the Quinton-Steele Botes Cancer Fund.
Botes passed away on Monday evening at the age of 54. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a kind of bone marrow cancer, during September 2007.
Meanwhile, the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) is busy arranging a special memorial service in remembrance of the late Botes on Wednesday morning at the Independence Stadium.
The service will give friends, athletes and those who worked closely with him, as well as his sponsors who assisted him in making many training and coaching clinics possible, to pay their last respects.
This event will start at 09h00.
