WINDHOEK, 25 JUN (NAMPA) – Yet another baby was found dumped in the capital on Wednesday morning. Luckily, this one is still alive.
The City Police was called to the scene after a passer-by heard the cry of a baby coming from a rubbish skip container in the Soweto residential area on Wednesday morning.
City Police Superintendent, Maria Muyoba told Nampa on Wednesday the baby boy is between three and four days old.
He was immediately taken to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital, where he received medical treatment.
She said the baby seemed to be in a good condition, despite being found naked – only wrapped in a blood-stained blue Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) bag – on a cold winter morning.
“The baby's umbilical cord was still attached,” Muyoba said.
Police investigations to try and trace the mother are underway.
The police request anyone with more information to contact the nearest police station, promising that all information will be treated with confidentiality.
