WINDHOEK, 25 JUN (NAMPA) Three men were arrested by the City Police last Friday for illegal possession of 285 litres of fuel.
The drums of fuel were found hidden in a shebeen in the Okuryangava residential area of the capital on that day, following a tip-off from members of the public that some motorists had been filling up their cars at a shebeen at a cheaper price than regular petrol stations.
City Police Senior Superintendent Gerry Shikesho told Nampa on Wednesday that the shebeen did not have facilities required for a filling station.
The suspects refused to tell the police where they obtained the fuel, Shikesho said, adding that it is suspected that it came from coastal town Walvis Bay.
One of the suspects is employed at Extreme Transport, while the other twos employment status is unknown.
The drums of fuel were confiscated by the police, and investigations continue.
