JELI, July 6 (Bernama) -- Fifty election workers, including speakers from Kelantan Umno will be heading for Kuala Besut tomorrow to assist Besut Umno in campaigning for the Kuala Besut state by-election scheduled for July 24.

Kelantan Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said Kelantan Umno would embrace the spirit of Ramadan during the campaign by organising appropriate programmes.

"I hope tension can be reduced during the campaign to respect the holiness of Ramadan.

"As the Kuala Besut state constituency is neighbouring Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, we will work hard to retain the seat," he told reporters after opening a Mobile Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Melintang here today.

The seat fell vacant following the death of its assemblyman, Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar due to due to lung cancer on June 26.

Among the services provided by the Mobile CTC are MyKad application and renewal, health screening, eye examination and provision of free spectacles, entrepreneurial advice, 1Malaysia Mobile Market, and exhibition by government departments and agencies.

The Mobile CTC was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Pekan, Pahang on March 1, and the Batu Melintang Mobile CTC is the 15th of its kind in the country and the first in Kelantan.
