Quarrel over blanket led to stabbing and death: NamPol

WINDHOEK, 22 JUN (NAMPA) - A quarrel over a blanket between a woman and her elderly boyfriend led to the death of the pensioner after he was stabbed in the Ondangwa area over the weekend.
The police at Ondangwa reported that the 79-year-old pensioner, Johannes Nakatana Mumbala, died at Oshaandjela village on Sunday morning at around 08h00 after he was allegedly stabbed with a knife by his 47-year-old girlfriend.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson Sergeant Slogan Matheus said at the weekly crime briefing here on Sunday the suspect and the deceased had an argument over a blanket that fell from their bed while they were asleep.
The suspect then allegedly stabbed the pensioner several times, and he died on the spot.
She has been arrested and is expected to make her first appearance on a charge of murder in the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court on Monday morning.
In the Oshikoto Region, a man fell into a borehole and drowned at Okapyakeedibo village in the Eengodi area on Friday. He was allegedly trying to remove his goat which had drowned in the same borehole earlier during the day.
The deceased person's body was recovered from the borehole by the members of the Namibian Police Force's Diving Squad.
He has been identified as Ericson Nghidinwa Mawfetange (age not provided).
His next of kin have been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
