He said their monthly rental would be paid by the government and from the donations to their relief fund.

"This is because it will take the state land custody and development authority (LCDA) the same period of time to prepare the new housing for them in Kampung Bandung," he said.

LCDA, he said, would begin construction of the new homes by the beginning of next year.

At the function, Abang Johari's wife, Datin Amar Juma'ani Tun Tuanku Bujang also presented a RM10,000 donation to the victims.

The money was from the Petra Jaya Welfare Association in Kuching.
