Coastal car accident kills man, injures three

SWAKOPMUND, 15 JUN (NAMPA) – A 24-year-old man died in a motor vehicle accident on the B2 road between Swakopmund and Arandis late Friday evening.
The accident took place some 12 kilometres to Swakopmund at about 02h45 after the driver of a Mazda sedan in which the deceased was travelling, allegedly lost control, causing the car to overturn.
The Deputy Regional Commander of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Erongo, Deputy Commissioner Andreas Nelumbu identified the deceased as Romeo Uirab.
He said Uirab, the driver Erens Doeseb, Anthony Doeseb and Herbert Uirab were travelling from Arandis to Swakopmund when the accident happened.
“Erens, Anthony and Herbet sustained multiple injuries but where rushed to the Swakopmund State Hospital. They are in a stable health condition,” Nelumbu reported.
He could not confirm whether there is any relation between the two men with the same surname.
The deputy commander said the deceased’s next of kin were informed, and police investigations on the actual cause of the accident continue.
In other news from the region, NamPol’s Detective Inspector Erastus Iikuyu at Walvis Bay reported that the police are still in search of a suspect in the murder of 27-year-old Steven Eixab.
Eixab was stabbed with a knife in the neck in the Mondesa residential area in the early evening hours of Saturday last week.
According to Iikuyu, the death was preceded by an argument between the deceased and suspect who shared a room.
