Two robberies in Rundu

RUNDU, 12 JUN (NAMPA) The Kehemu Fresh Friendly Market at Rundu was robbed of N.dollars 5 000 on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred at the Kehemu informal settlement at around 22h40 after the shop had closed for the day.
A security guard and cashier of the shop were tied up and held at gunpoint, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)s Kavango East acting Crime Investigations Coordinator, Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Thursday.
He said the suspects assaulted the two employees before taking the shop keys from them, and getting away with the money.
The suspects are still at large, and the money is yet to be recovered. The police have opened a case of armed robbery.
Another robbery incident occurred at the Ndama informal settlement on the southern outskirts of Rundu, where the Kaycity shebeen was robbed at around 03h00 on Thursday morning.
Mubebo said the thieves threatened and tied up the security guard on duty outside the shop, broke the windows of the shebeen to gain entry, and stole goods such as cigarettes, beer and cash worth a collective N.dollars 3 000.
The suspects are still at large.
