BIPA Bill to parliament soon

WINDHOEK, 11 JUN (NAMPA) – Cabinet has approved the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) Bill for onward submission to parliament for consideration.
Cabinet made the decision at its Third Ordinary meeting held on 25 March 2014.
A statement issued by Cabinet Chambers on Wednesday, said the bill provides that BIPA contribute to enhancing economic growth through the registration of business entitles and intellectual property rights.
BIPA will be the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s statutory and executive responsibility.
The various offices relevant to BIPA are currently regulated by topic-specific laws, for example, the registration offices of companies, close corporations, trademarks, patents and industrial designs and copyrights.
