WINDHOEK, 05 JUN (NAMPA) – City of Windhoek Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Niilo Taapopi's term of office ends on Friday.
Taapopi has been at the helm of the City of Windhoek (CoW) since 2004.
Windhoek Mayor Agnes Kafula announced this during the City of Windhoek’s monthly Council meeting on Wednesday.
“This meeting marks the end of the term of office of Niilo 'Kambwa-KaTshilongo' Taapopi as the Chief Executive Officer of the CoW on the 06 June 2014,” she said.
Kafula commended Taapopi for his dedication and support to the Council during his 10-year term of office, adding that the Council placed a vote of confidence in him to steer the City to where it is today.
“We are grateful and satisfied with the work and contribution that he has made to the development of the CoW, and I am sure we all would have loved to request him to stay on for a little longer,” she said.
Kafula said the recruitment of the new Chief Executive Officer is still ongoing.
Taapopi took over the position from Martin Shipanga who resigned in November 2003 to join the Commercial Bank of Namibia as its CEO.
Taapopi previously served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
