South Africa qualifies for TN Mobile CAF Women Championship

WINDHOEK, 29 MAY (NAMPA) - South Africa are the first country to qualify for the ninth edition of the TN Mobile Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women Championships after Comoros withdrew from the qualifiers on Tuesday.
The TN Mobile CAF Women Championships are set to take place in Namibia from 11 to 24 October this year.
A statement released by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) on Wednesday said the Comoros Football Association asked CAF to allow them to withdraw their team from the qualifiers following their devastating 13-0 defeat at the hands of South Africa last week Friday.
Perennial qualifiers Ghanas Black Queens also won 2-0 away to Ethiopia ahead of next weekends second leg matches that will determine who joins host Namibia and South Africa in Windhoek in October.
Another African womens powerhouse, Nigeria also won last weekend as they thumped Rwanda 4-1, while Senegal held Cameroon to a one-all draw in Dakar.
Reigning African champions, Equatorial Guinea were held one-all by Cote dIvoire, while Algeria beat Tunisia 2-1.
The return leg will take place on the weekend of 06 to 08 June, with six teams emerging to join hosts Namibia and South Africa for the final tournament in October.
The Namibia national team is currently in Westphalia, Germany for a three-week training camp in preparation of the TN Mobile CAF Women Championships. The team is expected back home on Monday.
