KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- The 9,101 Malaysian students in Egypt are safe and are not involved in the turmoil in that country.
A spokesman at the Malaysian embassy in Cairo said all the students were now having their semester examination and staying near their universities.
"At the moment, the situation in Egypt is under control and so far, there has been no report of any untoward incident happening to any Malaysian student n Egypt," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
The spokesman said the embassy would inform about the latest developments in Egypt from time to time and would take the necessary safety measures if the political turbulence continued.
The conflict in Egypt saw Egypt's Islamist president Mohamed Morsi ousted yesterday and chief justice Adly al-Mansour sworn in as interim president. Morsi was democratically elected by the people of Egypt on June 30, 2012 to replace Hosni Mubarak.
