SHARE PRICES REMAIN HIGHER AT MID-MORNING

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama)-- Share prices remained firm at mid-morning Friday, tracking the positive overnight performance of European equity markets, dealers said.

At 10.44 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 5.61 points better at 1,776.95, after opening 5.59 points higher at 1774.41.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index gained 37.54 points to 17,040.34, the Industrial Index rose 17.31 points to 3,012.92 and the Plantation Index gained 14.13 points to 8,406.55, while the FBM Ace Index added 41.830 points to 4,750.05.

Gainers led losers 388 to 126, while 1,068 counters were unchanged with volume at 500.174 million shares worth RM430.3 million.

Among actives, Flonic added half-a-sen to nine sen, while Luster was flat at 10.5 sen, and TA Enterprise improved 1.5 sen to 70.5 sen.

As for the heavyweights, Maybank shed two sen to RM10.48 and CIMB Group was flat at RM8.29, but Sime Darby remained unchanged at RM9.50 sen. -- BERNAMA SOR AS
