ITF Grade 5 Tournament comes to an end

WINDHOEK, 18 MAY (NAMPA) – The second International Tennis Federation (ITF) Grade 5 Namibian Open Junior Tennis tournament ended here on Saturday.
It commenced on Sunday last week after the completion of the ITF Grade 4 youth tournament at the Central Tennis Club along Frankie Fredericks Drive in Windhoek last Saturday.
The ITF Grade 4 tournament boys' category was won by South African (SA) JD Malan, while Lee Barnard, also from SA, won the girls’ category.
In the ITF Grade 5 tournament, Francois Kellerman (SA) won the boys’ category after defeating Malan in two sets (6-3 6-1).
Kellerman also won the boys’ doubles with teammate Okkie Kellerman (SA) against Hubert Badenhorst (SA) and Dylan Alec Foo-Kune from Mauritius in two sets (6-1 6-3).
In the girls’ singles, South Africa’s fourth-seed Katie Poluta overcame her compatriot Zani Barnard in two sets (3-6 6-4 6-4).
The girls’ doubles was won by South Africa’s number one-seed junior, Nadine de Villiers, and Poluta against Ciney Bekker (SA) and Belgium's Sophie Gerita in two sets (6-3 6-2).
Namibian tennis players did not make it past the first round of both the singles' and doubles' girls and boys categories.
