Two-year-old drowns in Epukiro

WINDHOEK, 18 MAY (NAMPA) – A two-year-old girl drowned in an earth dam at the Ombwae village in the Omaheke Region on Wednesday last week.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said at a weekly media briefing here on Sunday the deceased was pushed into the water by a three-year-old toddler while they were playing without their parents’ knowledge.
The deceased's next of kin have been informed.
In the Ohangwena Region, a passenger was shot in the leg while in a moving vehicle on Saturday at the Omahenge village near the Oshaango village by a Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Sergeant.
The 22-year-old suspect was allegedly drunk when he fired a shot with his 9 millimetre pistol in the direction of the vehicle.
The victim was treated at the Eenhana Intermediate Hospital, and was later discharged.
The suspect was arrested and charged on three counts - attempted murder, negligent handling of a firearm, and discharge of a firearm in public.
He will make his first appearance in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
