KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Digital Association (MDA) aims to double its membership to 80 by year-end from the 40 currently with the appointment of comScore, Inc, as the official internet audience measurement currency for Malaysia.
MDA is the apex representative body for online publishers, advertising agencies and digital service providers in Malaysia.
Its President Rene E. Menezes said the target is achievable as comScore has a large local panel and wide acceptance and usage by media agencies in Malaysia.
"comScore was chosen, after a multi-stage review process that included two other audience measurement providers, as a result of its reputation as the gold standard for measuring digital activity across the world.
"Our current members are already among the biggest players in the media industries such as The Star, Google Malaysia, Yahoo! and New Strait Times group, which cover a big portion of the market," he told Bernama after the appointment of comScore.
Under the appointment, MDA and comScore will work together to establish an agreed measurement currency for the advertising market in order to promote the development of digital business in Malaysia.
As part of the agreement, comScore will work with the MDA to produce regular industry statistic reports and joint studies while comScore audience analytics packages will also be offered to MDA members at preferential rates.
