SINGAPORE, July 4 (Bernama) -- HIMSS and Elsevier announced Thursday that they are inviting nominations for the first HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award.

The award, which is open to all public and private healthcare providers in Asia Pacific, was established to recognise organisations for outstanding achievements in the implementation and usage of health information and technology.

The winner will be announced and honoured on Oct 21, 2013 during the Digital Healthcare Week 2013 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

The award aims to identify and recognise organisations in Asia Pacific that leverage health information technology to successfully improve quality of care and patient safety.

Nominees will be evaluated through a two-step evaluation framework, namely a self-assessment case study aligned with the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM), and a virtual site visit for nominees to explain and demonstrate how the nominating project is being used in the organisation.

Elsevier Managing Director for APAC, Gerrit Bos, said: “Healthcare providers in Asia Pacific are constantly managing a number of medical and operational priorities, while keeping up with the latest advancement in technology and medical sciences.

"It is important that we recognise these organisations and hold them up as models of best practice for the region,” he added.
