WINDHOEK, 07 MAY (NAMPA) – A delegation from the Women’s Action for Development (WAD) organisation paid a courtesy call on President Hifikepunye Pohamba on Tuesday to inform him about WAD’s 20th anniversary celebration on 18 July 2014.
WAD board chairperson Reverend Philip Strydom led the delegation to State House.
He praised Pohamba, saying that during his term of office, the president had served Namibia and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region with distinction.
“You have made us proud,” he stated.
In his welcoming remarks, Pohamba thanked the non-governmental organisation for its contributions towards peace and stability in the country, saying it is not the government alone which keeps peace and stability in Namibia, but also the people of this country.
He then called on all political parties and organisations to conduct peaceful election campaigns and to have peaceful elections, come November this year.
The delegation comprised WAD deputy chairperson Twapewa Kadhikwa; WAD executive director Veronica de Klerk; WAD board member, Retired Bishop Zephania Kameeta; the Special Advisor to the WAD Community Voice, Salatiel Shinedima.
WAD’s main sponsor is the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, a German non-governmental organisation.
