30 Percent Nothern Cape Votes Counted

Just over 30 percent of votes for the Northern Cape's provincial election had been counted by 3.30am on Thursday. Of the province's 694 voting districts, 212 had been counted, accounting for 44,497 valid votes and 612 spoilt votes. In early results the African National Congress secured 27,227 votes, the Democratic Alliance 12,164, the Congress of the People 1720, the Economic Freedom Fighters 1,536 and the Freedom Front Plus 1001. The African Christian Democratic Party had 334 votes, African People's Convention 158, Patriotic Alliance 96, the Azanian People's Organisation 70, the United Christian Democratic Party 65, the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania 36 and the United Democratic Movement 26. The Inkatha Freedom Party had 21 votes, the Independent Civic Organisation of SA 18, the First Nation Liberation Alliance 15 and the National Freedom Party 10. Sapa /mjs/aa
