Over 8% Of Freestate Votes Counted

Provincial election results continued to trickle in on Thursday morning, with 8.47 percent of Free State votes counted. Of the province's 1523 voting districts, votes from 129 had been counted by 2.30am, accounting for 30,585 valid votes and 469 spoilt votes. The African National Congress secured 18,684 votes in the early results, the Democratic Alliance 7569, the Economic Freedom Fighters 2227, while the Freedom Front Plus had 1143 votes. The Congress of the People secured 288 votes, the African Christian Democratic Party 208, the African People's Convention 91 and Agang SA 65 votes thus far. The Azanian People's Organisation were recorded as having 60 votes, the Inkatha Freedom Party had 53, the United Democratic Movement 42 and the National Freedom Party 29. The Patriotic Alliance secured 24 votes, the United Christian Democratic Party 22 and the Independent Civic Organisation of SA had 110 votes. Sapa /mjs/ks
