Early Midvaal Results Come In

Vote counting was underway across South Africa with results from the Midvaal municipality in Gauteng coming in at the Electoral Commission of SA's national results operations centre in Pretoria early Thursday morning. In the national election, by 2.38am the African National Congress had received 363 votes, the Democratic Alliance 153, the Economic Freedom Fighters 46 and the Freedom Front Plus 30 out of a total 642 votes counted. In the provincial election, the ANC had received 364 votes, the DA 158, EFF 46 and the FF Plus 26 out of 614 votes counted. Prior to Wednesday's election, 52,126 people were registered. In the 2009 national election in Midvaal, the ANC received 45.63 percent of the vote, the DA 43.95 percent and the Congress of the People 4.82 percent. Provincially in 2009, the DA received 46.16 percent, the ANC 44.76 percent and Cope 4.15 percent. Sapa /aw/aa/ks
