As of 2.23am on Thursday, 4.95 percent of votes in KwaZulu-Natal's provincial election had been counted. Of the province's 4746 voting districts, 235 had been counted, accounting for 81,260 valid votes and 1243 spoilt votes. The early results showed that the African National Congress had 53,025 votes, the Democratic Alliance had 11,611 votes and the Inkatha Freedom Party had 8124 votes. The National Freedom Party secured 5486 votes, the Economic Freedom Fighters had 1183, the African Christian Democratic Party had 411 and the United Democratic Movement had 271 votes. The Minority Front received 268 of the early votes, the Freedom Front Plus 233, the African People's Convention 163, the Congress of the People 110, while the Azanian People's Organisation secured 95 votes. The Pan Africanist Congress of Azania had 62 votes, the KwaZulu-Natal Transport Alliance 61, the United Christian Democratic Party 58, the Kingdom Governance Movement 48, the Truly Alliance 43 votes, while the Ubumbano Lwesizwe Sabangoni secured eight votes.
