KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji has advised the public not to be influenced by an organisation believed to be based in Kota Damansara which purportedly organises the 'Sukarelawan Musim Haji 1434H' mission.
Tabung Haji has never appointed, approved or authorised any organisation to organise such a mission, it said in a statement today.
It said Tabung Haji had received many complaints about the so-called voluntary mission to assist pilgrims in the Holy Land of Mecca and Medina with interested participants having to pay RM5,000.
"Initial investigations found that the organisation has been promoting the programme through briefings at selected places throughout the country as well as through Facebook.
"We have checked on the claim with the Saudi Embassy and was told that no visa had been issued for such programme," he said, adding that Tabung Haji was the only agency from Malaysia entrusted with the responsibility of managing pilgrims either at home or in the holy land.
"During the pilgrimage season only Tabung Haji employees and medical staff appointed by the Ministry of Health are authorised to manage the pilgrims," the statement said.
The public can contact the Tabung Haji Call Centre at 03-62071919 for further information.
