WINDHOEK, 03 MAY (NAMPA) - Black Africa Football Club coach Brian Isaacs is confident his team will win the Namibia Premier league (NPL) again this season after beating Orlando Pirates by two goals to nil here on Friday.
Isaacs said they are now in the driving seat towards winning the title again like last season, because they are now leading the log and are not chasing any team, “they are all chasing us”.
“It is our dream and we are confident about winning the league this season again. In fact, the title is already in our hands, we are just going to manage the remaining matches before the season ends,” he said confidently.
BA are leading the log with 42 points, while Pirates are fourth with 34 points.
The defending champions’ first goal came in the 38th minute of the first half from a shot by Muna Katupose.
Katupose continued to unleash strong shots from all angles, but Pirates goalkeeper Charles Uirab was equal to task in ensuring BA does not score, along with the rest of the Pirates players who kept on pushing for a goal.
However, 29 minutes into the second half Ananias Gebhard scored BA’s second goal.
Speaking to the media after the match, Pirates’ coach Ali Akan said BA deserves the victory.
“Credit should be given to BA, they played well tonight and they deserved to win,” he said.
Akan then expressed uncertainty about winning the league this season, saying it would be difficult for them now to get on top of the log now.
