Otavi Investment Expo and Festival officially opened

OTAVI, 25 APR (NAMPA) – The 2014 Otavi Investment Expo and Festival was officially opened by Otjozondjupa Regional Governor, Samuel Nuuyoma on Friday morning.
It is being held at the Otavi Sports Field under the theme ‘Unlocking the potential’. The expo and festival started on Wednesday morning and ends Saturday.
Nuuyoma in his remarks on Friday expressed happiness with the Otavi Town Council and its stakeholders for hosting the second edition of the event this year.
He said the Otavi Investment Expo and Festival leads to local economic development as it attracts investors to the town and also leads to improved infrastructure.
“I am happy to see a considerable representation of exhibitors here, something that shows they are taking full advantage of the opportunities created by this event,” he said.
Nuuyoma noted that a total of 60 corporate companies and government ministries are participating in this year’s expo.
Sixty small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are also exhibiting their products and services, which is a good sign for a young trade fair like the Otavi Investment Expo and Festival the governor said.
“This is commendable, the event has created close to 200 direct and indirect jobs providing our people with much-needed income, mostly our unemployed youth of this town,” said Nuuyoma.
He went on to say Government will continue to create a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.
On her part, Otavi Constituency Councillor Ndapewa Nambili said the Otavi Investment Expo and Festival has already boosted the economy of the town and instilled a sense of pride amongst the residents.
Nambili urged all businesspeople in and around Otavi to market their products and services by taking advantage of the opportunity created by the Otavi Town Council.
Otavi Mayor Markus Damaseb said a feasibility study is underway on how and where to construct an Otavi Investment Centre.
