Otavi woman allegedly gang-raped in public toilet

OTAVI, 21 APR (NAMPA) A 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men in a public toilet at Otavis Single Quarters last Thursday morning.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on enquiry Monday that the suspects are aged 21, 24 and 28.
The three men were apprehended on the same day in connection with the alleged rape.
Mbeha explained that the suspects allegedly followed the woman when she was walking home from a shebeen.
The three men approached the woman, and one of them grabbed her from behind, pulled her into the public toilet and all of them repeatedly raped her, she said.
The suspects then fled the scene.
They are expected to appear in the Otavi Magistrates Court on Tuesday on a charge of rape.
Police investigations continue.
