Brave Warriors rewarded as one of best-scoring teams in group st

WINDHOEK, 12 JUL (NAMPA) - After emerging victorious from their respective group stage games of the COSAFA Cup underway in Zambia, Namibia and Lesotho have each won N.dollars 15 000 for finishing as the best-scoring teams in those groups.
This was announced in a media statement availed to Nampa by the Council of Southern African Football Associations? (COSAFA) media office on Friday.
With only two games of play in Group A of the tournament, the Namibian side managed to find the net six times as they beat Mauritius 2-1 last Saturday, and Seychelles by 4-2 on Monday.
In their opening game of the tournament against Mauritius last Saturday, the Brave Warriors? Man of the Match Petrus Shitembi and Pinehas Jakob scored the goals in the first half.
The Brave Warriors? second victory, which saw Namibia becoming the first nation to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament, came when they wrestled down Seychelles with a scoreline of 4-2.
Hitting the net twice in that match was Man of the Match Ananias Gebhardt, while Sadney Urikhob and Neville Tjiueza scored one goal each.
The Warriors? next match will be against South Africa in the quarter-finals in Lusaka, Zambia on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Lesotho found the net seven times in their three Group B matches. Their three victories saw them march with pride to the quarter-finals, where they face Angola in Kitwe on Sunday.
They scored twice against Kenya in their first game on Monday, and three times against Botswana before they sealed their group-stage victory with two more goals against Swaziland on Thursday.
Lesotho and Botswana both finished with five points each in their group, but Lesotho managed to edge the Zebras on a goal difference in the standings.
