OTJIWARONGO, 16 APR (NAMPA) – The Otjozondjupa Regional Governor Samuel Nuuyoma on Thursday asked God to help his region’s under-20 football team win The Namibian Newspaper Cup again this year.
The Otjozondjupa under-20s are the defending champions of the newspaper cup.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the players on his office, Nuuyoma asked his Special Advisor Rosalia Muashekele-Sibiya to pray on his behalf for God to bless the Otjozondjupa players with enough strength, confidence and the spirit of teamwork.
Muashekele-Sibiya then prayed out loud, asking God to unite the Otjozondjupa under-20 team, and to protect the players from injuries and illness during the tournament.
The competition kicked off at the Oscar Norich Sports’ Stadium in Tsumeb on Friday morning and will end on Monday.
“I have confidence you will bring the cup back to our region. Pray to God every morning and be determined - you are already victorious,” Nuuyoma encouraged the players.
The team’s coach Maradona Tsaoseb said the regional team is prepared for the tournament, adding that the players are confident to return the newspaper cup to the region.
