OTJIWARONGO, 14 APR (NAMPA) – A 36-year-old man who was reported missing after a road accident near the Otjiwarongo State Hospital on 06 April 2014, was found hanging dead from a tree last Friday.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb told Nampa on enquiry on Monday that a passer-by found the man hanging from a tree in a riverbeds behind Spes Bona Primary School in the Orwetoveni residential area.
“The passer-by reported to the police that he found a dead man hanging from a tree on Friday morning at about 09h41,” said Khairabeb.
Since there was a man who was reported missing a week ago after a motor vehicle accident near the Otjiwarongo State Hospital, members of his family were called-in and they identified the deceased as Benhard Kathindi.
It is alleged the Kathindi fled the accident scene on Sunday morning (06 April) after a vehicle he was driving collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
“After the accident, Kathindi got out of his vehicle, switched off his cell phone and he was only found dead - hanging from the tree with a rope around his neck. He did not leave behind any suicide note, and no foul play is suspected,” Khairabeb said.
