OSHALI, 14 APR (NAMPA) – Retired Principal of Haimbili Haufiku Senior Secondary School, Dineinge Sheya is now the new headman of Oshali village under the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority (OTA) in Ohangwena Region.
Senior headman Elias Waandja of the OTA’s Onandova traditional district, under which Oshali village falls, officially installed Sheya at that village on Saturday.
“These are God’s people whom you should serve honestly, patiently and without taking quick judgements,” Waandja advised Sheya in the presence of a large group of villagers during the installation function.
Sheya is succeeding Oshali village’s former headman Elia Neema, who died last year.
Queen Martha Mwadinomho waKristian yaNelumbu of Oukwanyama authorised Sheya’s appointment last Thursday already.
Born at Oshali village 60 years ago, Sheya is a former combatant of the People’s Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN), and was a senior officer in the Ministry of Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation before becoming a school principal.
He was a principal at Ongha Senior Secondary School for two year before moving to Haimbili Haufiku Senior Secondary School in 2003 where he stayed until his early retirement in 2012.
