Of the four fatalities in this morning's helicopter crush in
Grootfontein, which The Villager Online reported about earlier, one
was toddler while another is among the injured.
The four dead bodies and six injured persons were transported from
Grootfontein to Katutura State Hospital and have just arrived in the
Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Petrus Shivute, has
confirmed the accident and the number of causalities.
"The Ministry of Defence is announcing with regret that today (Friday)
at 05h05am, a helicopter of the Namibian Air Force with a crew of two
pilots and eight passengers crashed at the Grootfontein Airport. There
were four fatalities and serious injuries to other passengers,"
Shivute has said.
The helicopter was on an official mission from Grootfontein to Windhoek.
